Brett Kocijan

Brett Cullen Kocijan (co-SEE-jan) is a highly-skilled DUI, criminal defense, and family law attorney. He has been practicing law since 2001 and has been operating his own practice since 2008. He was born in Lakenheath, England, and with his father serving a career in the United States Air Force, Brett grew up in Europe for eighteen years. That experience gave Brett a deep understanding & respect for the sacrifices involved with military service.

He attended Bitburg America High School in Germany and graduated in 1994. Immediately thereafter, Brett attended The Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a B.A. in history in 1998. In 2001, Brett graduated with his law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. He was admitted to the Florida Bar that same year. In his first job out of law school, Brett served as an associate at Vernis & Bowling, where he led their DUI, criminal defense, and family law sections.

In 2008, Brett opened his own practice and maintained his career-long focus on DUIs, criminal defense and family law. Since opening his practice, Brett has continued his success, serving hundreds of clients, with his criminal experience ranging from low-level misdemeanor charges (such as retail theft or domestic battery) all the way up to major felonies (such as burglary, drug sales, or aggravated battery). Brett currently takes cases for DUI, criminal defense, and family law throughout Central Florida, including Ocala and Marion County, Gainesville and Alachua County, Lake County, Sumter County, and Citrus County.

Brett is presently licensed in all Florida State Courts, The United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and The United States Supreme Court. Brett has over twenty years’ experience handling various criminal cases. When he is away from court, Brett is an avid traveler who has visited more than 60 countries and enjoys spending time with his children.
